Ingredients

  • 2 slices of Bread. I’ve gone with the harvest seed and grain loaf from Abbotts Bakery.
  • Cheese. Mozzarella works great.
  • A Brown Onion.
  • Butter.
  • Italian Herbs.
  • Garlic Salt.
  • Olive Oil.

How to make a Cheese and Onion Toastie

1.) Peel and slice the Brown Onion thinly.

2.) Add a tablespoon of Olive Oil to a fry pan and heat on a low-medium. Add the sliced Onions and sauté until softened and lightly browned.

3.) While the Onions are cooking, combine a tablespoon of Butter with a pinch or two of Garlic Salt and Italian Herbs. Layer on the Garlic Butter to each slice of bread, ensuring to cover the whole surface area.

4.) Once the Onions are nicely browned and softened, push them to the side of the pan and place one of the slices of bread into the pan, butter side down.

5.) Using some tongs, add the cooked Onions to the Bread and top with a generous helping of Cheese.

6.) Complete the sandwich by placing the other slice of bread onto the cheese with the Butter side facing upward. Allow to cook until golden brown (roughly 2-3 minutes) and then flip and do the same for the other side. The cheese should be all melted and gooey.
